Printable Thank You Cards: 8 Foldable Designs and Envelope Liners

After a party, the thank-you notes always sit at the bottom of my list. Not because I am ungrateful, but because I never have cards that feel right. Plain notecards feel flat, and fancy ones cost more than the gift.

This set gives you eight foldable cards in eight colors and four envelope liners, all printed at home on cardstock. They look like something from a stationery shop, and they cost a few cents each in paper.

How to make a card

Print on 65 to 80 lb cardstock, one side only. Cut on the dashed outline, then score along the dotted fold with a ruler and a dry pen. Fold with the printed side out. The inside stays blank, so you can write a real note rather than squeeze a line into a printed space.

Envelope liners

Cut the house-shaped template on the dashed outline, tuck it into an A2 envelope with the point under the flap and run a glue stick along the flap fold only. If your envelope is slightly different, trace it on the back of the liner and trim to that outline. A liner takes the card from nice to special.

When to use them

Birthday gifts, baby shower gifts, hostess gifts, teacher gifts, and every holiday that involves someone being kind to you. Print a full page of cards and keep them in a folder, so the next time someone does something kind you can write a note the same day.

A few writing tips

A good thank-you note needs only three sentences: name the gift, say how you will use it, and say thanks for coming or thinking of us. Write it the day after the party, while the details are fresh. For a child's party, let the child sign each card and draw something on the inside, since the blank inside is made for that. Keep a stack of stamped, liner-lined envelopes in a drawer so thank-you notes never wait.
